Cold Contacting. Hot or Not?
Upon joining GBG I found out there’s no encouragement to “cold contact.” For those of you who don’t know what this concept is, I will explain. Cold contacting is approaching a complete stranger, and spewing out lines like “are you happy with your job,” “what if I can show you a way to make an extra couple hundred dollars a month,” or the ever classic “would you like to become financially free.” And many other scripted, unrealistic dialogs. When advised to do this, of course wanting to succeed, I did. Annoying people in their place of employment, during their family outings at the mall and while on their lunch breaks. Its not exactly glamorous or attractive behavior if you ask me. But climbing the latter of success meant a better life for my family and others I can touch with a chance or opportunity to better themselves and their lifestyles. Its not that I don’t think GBG is “cold contacting worthy”, because it definitely is. To me we’ve the chance of a lifetime, why not share it with everyone you meet. I just believe if people are looking, they should be the ones contacting you. I love the fact that GBG teaches you to make this possible. Showing you that you can actually get yourself out there with fliers, business cards, Internet and through various other imaginative ideas. All while still keeping it professional and well presented. To me this ancient old idea has seen its days, advertising is a much more effective approach. It is more comfortable for the prospect and the representative. This way when the prospect contacts the rep, there isn’t a feeling of pressure. They are the ones pursuing you. I just wanted to state my experience with this way of gaining prospects. I do believe there is a good way to “cold contact.” After starting a conversation, and they seem like the type that would jump into your opportunity or bite the bait so too speak, by all means, work it into the conversation. If someone asks you what you do for a living, no respectful business builder will turn down the chance to put it out there. There is just tasteful ways of doing it. Again these are only MY opinions, so please no hostility. It may work for you, it is just too impersonal for me.
